About the 41/50HB50 Laminated Steel Padlock

Somewhere between a compact everyday padlock and the extended-reach HB125 sits this middle-ground option, built for hasps and chain links that need a bit more clearance than a standard shackle offers, without the extra bulk of a full-height model.

ABUS 41/50HB50 Laminated Steel

This laminated steel padlock features ETERNA™ coating on each laminate, treated individually for extreme corrosion resistance rather than coated as a single layer. The outer laminates house the rivets, protecting rivet heads from chipping with repeated use.

A hardened, double-bolted shackle made from special alloy steel is backed by a precision pin tumbler cylinder. Pushing the shackle down engages the self-locking feature, closing the lock without a key.

Laminated Steel Safety Padlocks

Every ABUS laminated padlock starts with recycled steel laminates, is manufactured in Germany, and is finished with cadmium-free plating for reliable rust resistance. Vinyl bumpers in various colors help crews sort locks quickly and support OSHA-compliant identification systems.

A padlock that's too tall wastes space, and one that's too short won't close around what it needs to. 1st-in-Padlocks stocks the ABUS laminated steel range across several shackle heights so the fit matches the job instead of the other way around.

FAQs

Is the HB50 a better fit than the HB125 for standard gate hasps?

For most standard hasps, yes. The HB50's shorter height fits typical gate hardware more naturally, while the HB125 suits larger chains and padeyes.

Does the Level 7 rating mean the same security as the HB125 model?

Yes. Both models share the same Level 7 rating and 23/64 inch shackle diameter, so security stays consistent despite the height difference.

What's a practical use case where the HB50's mid-length shackle matters most?

Cabinet hardware, mid-size chain links, and layered gate hasps that need more clearance than a compact lock but less than a full extended-reach model.
