Lost Keys/Reset Combinations
ABUS
I've forgotten the combination to my standard dial combination lock. How do I obtain the combination that I use for personal use?
The ABUS combination system is very secure. For security reasons, we cannot open an ABUS combination lock without the programmed code.
Someone was playing around with my resettable combination lock and accidentally reset the combination. Now, I do not know the correct combination. Is there any way to reset this lock back to "0" and assign a new combo?
Unfortunately, this model cannot be reset unless you know the current combination. You will probably need to buy a new lock.
Once you set the lock, it cannot be opened without the combination. Write down the new combination and keep it somewhere safe.
I need extra keys for my padlock.
Your best bet is to get your existing key duplicated at a store that offers key replacement/ duplication services or your local locksmith.
How can I get a new key for my lock if the locksmith/hardware store could not find a replacement?
Not every lock model has available replacement keys. If your hardware store cannot help, try contacting a local locksmith who specializes in lock keying. In some cases, you may need to purchase a new lock.
If you know your lock’s key number, email it to us along with the lock model. We will check if additional keys are available. Depending on the lock, keys typically cost between $10 and $20 each, plus shipping.
If we are also unable to get a replacement, you may have to purchase a new lock.
I have lost the keys that came with my lock and I do not know my key number. Can I send my lock to ABUS to have keys made?
Without the key number, ABUS cannot tell which key fits your lock. There is no master key that opens all ABUS locks.
Can I order a new lock that works with my existing key?
It may be possible if you originally ordered a keyed-alike or master-keyed product and are purchasing the same lock model. When ordering, select the keyed-alike or master-keyed option and enter your key code in the ‘previous key number to match’ field. We will verify the key code and contact you if it is invalid.

I've forgotten the combination to my standard dial combination lock. How do I obtain the combination that I use for personal use?

- Photocopy the serial number on the back case of your combination lock. This copy MUST clearly show that the lock is not attached to anything. Be sure to handwrite the serial number on the photocopy.

I lost the keys to my padlock. Is it possible to obtain new keys for my lock?
It is possible to obtain replacement keys for your padlock ONLY if you know the key number. The key number is stamped on the original keys provided with your lock. If you don’t know the key number, a locksmith may be able to make new keys by impressioning your lock. If you do know it, visit a locksmith or local hardware store to order replacements. Keep in mind that not all locksmiths or stores offer this service, so it’s best to call first. A service fee will apply.
